Art Teaches Us Important Lessons About Life
The more I explore art, the more strongly I feel that it is an integral part of our mental and emotional health.
Art is such a wonderful way to decompress, and it teaches us important lessons about life.
It teaches us to deeply appreciate the intricacies of the world... the magic of light, shadows, and color all dancing together to create forms.
It teaches us to value the process of creating and becoming.
It invites us to slow down and appreciate the fullness of each moment.
It teaches us that imperfections add to the unique beauty of the world and of ourselves.
It offers us a space to feel, process, and express our emotions in a healthy way.
It invites us into our inner world.
The benefits are limitless, so why don't more people practice art?
I have never met a child who doesn't love drawing, painting, or coloring, so why do so few adults practice these activities?
... because at some point as we grow up, we become critical of ourselves. We decide we aren't good enough, so we give up.
I know that's what happened to me.
But, reconnecting with my creativity has brought so much more joy into my life, and I truly believe it can create joy for everyone at any age.
You don't have to be Rembrant or Monet, you just have to play and create for the joy of creating. That's what we instinctively did as children.
We can stay connected with this joyful creative space throughout our entire life.
What a joyful world it would be if more people playfully created on a regular basis!
